    Marcon co-chairs AI conference with Modi in Paris

    PARIS: The Paris AI Action Summit, co-hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, commenced on February 10, 2025, at the Grand Palais in Paris. The summit has attracted heads of state and government, leaders of international organizations, CEOs from both small and large companies, as well as representatives from academia, non-governmental organizations, artists, and members of civil society.

    The summit also featured U.S. Vice President JD Vance, who advocated for a hands-off approach to AI regulation, contrasting with the European preference for more oversight. The presence of global tech leaders, including OpenAI’s Sam Altman and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, reinforced the importance of collaboration between governments and the private sector in shaping the future of AI.

    Prime Minister Modi arrived in Paris on February 10 to co-chair the summit and engage in discussions with President Macron. Upon his arrival, he was warmly received by France’s Armed Forces Minister, Sébastien Lecornu. The summit aims to position France at the forefront of the AI revolution and to deliberate on necessary global regulations.

    In addition to President Macron and Prime Minister Modi, the summit features keynotes from tech executives such as Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Discussions are centered on AI’s energy demands, its benefits for developing nations, and the importance of global cooperation and ethical standards in AI development.

    The event underscores the critical role of international collaboration in harnessing AI’s potential while addressing its challenges.
