    Cryptocurrency CEO’s daughter and grandson attacked in Paris

    PARIS: A 34-year-old woman, believed to be the daughter of a high-profile cryptocurrency executive, and her two-year-old child were the victims of a violent attempted kidnapping in Paris yesterday morning steps away from where Kim Kardashian was attacked, raising questions about security in France.

    The attack occurred on Rue Pache in the 11th arrondissement, when three armed men confronted the woman and her child. The assailants tried to force them into a white van, assaulting the child’s father when he intervened. During the struggle, the woman managed to grab one of the attackers’ handguns and throw it away.

    Footage captured by a bystander from an apartment window shows the chaotic scene unfold. As the father was being beaten, he was heard shouting, “Help! She’s pregnant!” in a desperate plea for assistance.

    The family’s screams eventually drew the attention of nearby residents and passers-by. Some rushed to help, while others shouted from windows or began filming. One individual even threw a fire extinguisher at the van in an attempt to stop the attackers.

    Faced with the growing crowd, the kidnappers fled the scene, abandoning their van just a few streets away. Le Parisien reports that a fake gun was found at the scene, and that the child had tear gas in his eyes.

    Witnesses, including a 61-year-old man named Jean-Jacques, described the aftermath. “I heard screaming and ran outside. The man was on the ground with a bloody head—there was blood everywhere,” he said. Jean-Jacques treated the mother and child for tear gas exposure with saline solution and helped care for the father’s wounds.

    The Paris Judicial Police’s Anti-Banditism Brigade (BRB) has launched an investigation but has not released the names of the victims. According to investigators, the attackers arrived in a Chronopost delivery van, suggesting the abduction was premeditated. “Her partner managed to fight them off,” a police source confirmed.

    No suspects have yet been arrested, and the motive behind the attempted kidnapping remains unclear. However, the attack comes shortly after another cryptocurrency-related abduction in Paris.

    On May 1, the father of a crypto entrepreneur was held hostage for over 48 hours. During the ordeal, the victim was injured, and his captors severed one of his fingers to pressure his son for a ransom worth several million euros. French police eventually stormed the hideout, using non-lethal grenades to arrest five suspects.

    Authorities are now investigating potential links between the two cases as the hunt for the latest assailants continues.
